Don't judge someone just because they sin differently than you do. -anonymous
Have you ever sat and thought about other's sins, and compared them to yours? Have you ever said to yourself "I'm so glad I'm not like him or her?" I think we have all been there. Most people fall into the trap of comparing their sins to someone else's. A lot of the time we think that our small lie that doesn't seem to affect anyone is not that big of a deal compared a huge lie like a person that betrayed their spouse (for example). That is inaccurate and far from biblical. Romans 3:23 reads "For everyone has sinned; we all fall short of God's glorious standard."
I feel very strong about this topic. It happens a lot around me with my family and friends and it drives me crazy. I am not perfect and I'm sure that I do the same thing without even recognizing that I do. However, because I feel strong about it I try and practice not to be that way. After all, you don't know what the other is going through or what their situation is. My life is far from perfect, I have done a lot I am not proud of. My sins are not something I am proud of, but in those times I didn't have anyone to tell me I was doing wrong. I was far from Christ. One day someone advised me to pick up the bible and start reading it. They said I would find my answers in there, and pray before doing anything. That changed my life completely. All I needed was my father from the heavens to speak to me and show me my wrongs. I was judged by a lot of people and still am, simply because of the way I am and even look. It makes me sad to be honest, but I have learned not do that to someone else simply because what has done to me makes me feel awful and I don't want them feeling like that. Instead, I pray for them and hope that God reaches them like he did to me.
One of my favorite passages in the bible that I love is from Matthew. He was judged a lot by the others because he was a tax collector. I feel he struggled a lot like a lot of us do. (No one likes to be judged!) "Do not judge, or you too will be judged. For in the same way you judge others, you will be judged, and with the measure you use, it will be measured to you." -Matthew 7:1-2
If we strive to follow Him an obey Him with our whole being, then we will get closer to His standard. This is a lifelong pursuit for the all of us, but when we keep our eyes on Jesus, we will be more likely to want to better ourselves instead of looking around at others.
Remember, this has nothing to do with his love. God's love is already secure for us who follow Christ. There isn't anything we can do to make Him love us more then he already does. Choosing to honor and follow Him, even when it is difficult for us at times, will result in the abundant life He promised to us while we exist on earth.
